Storytelling
Nicolas’ images emerge from a precise play with light, colour and framing—balancing clarity with intimacy, combining simplicity with depth to create distinctive visuals. Working both digitally and on analogue medium format and 35mm film, he treats each medium as a language with its own character.
At the heart of his practice lies a close connection with the people and places he photographs. Each encounter is approached as an act of trust, allowing authenticity to surface. Nicolas finds inspiration in the quiet, often fleeting moments of life, and in photography’s ability to distil complexity into a single image. The result is a body of work that feels lucid and intense, with an aesthetic presence that often unfolds in stillness and quiet beauty—opening space for emotion, longing and reflection.

As the founder of Bureau Lehni, a design studio specialised in visual communication, branding and strategic consulting, Nicolas leads projects from concept to final execution—crafting design experiences that are cohesive, meaningful and built to create impact.
Created in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this image series stages a selection of Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances within a mythological universe inspired by the Gods of Olympus.
Set between heaven and hell, the project transforms the perfumes into sculptural, almost divine objects—surrounded by dramatic compositions, bodies, skin, light, shadow, and symbolic tension. Rather than presenting the fragrances as conventional products, the images approach them as artefacts of desire, power, and transformation, shaped by contrasts such as purity and excess, beauty and danger, divinity and flesh.
